The Griesheim Museum is a cultural gem in the region, dedicated to preserving and presenting local history and culture. Located in the heart of the city, the museum is not only a place of education, but also a lively learning and meeting place for the entire community. «Tradition is not about preserving the ashes, but about stoking the flame.» Following this guiding principle, the Griesheim Local History Museum wants to «rekindle the fire» and, with the help of erlebnisplan Deutschland, has taken the step towards a sustainable reorientation.
Together with the city and with a professional outside perspective, we took a fresh look at the museum, its activities, and its potential in order to create a sustainable meeting place and cultural center that attracts new visitors and further consolidates what has already been established. In an initial participatory process involving all stakeholders from the city, the region, and the museum team, it quickly became clear that the Griesheim Museum is and will remain a home for everyone interested in the history of the town. In addition, the museum aims to develop into a place of learning and encounter for new residents, school classes, and the immediate neighborhood, acting as an open host. We are delighted with the fascinating positioning and mission statement development and are very pleased to accompany the museum’s further activities.
